Teachers Walter Rosnau and and Philip J. Enders began teaching 1927 at St. Mathew Luthern school No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. These dedicated teachers both served the congregation well. They worked with the young people and were organists at church services. There identical years of service amounted to 19.

Next teacher J Dobring was installed on july 17th 1913. Due to ill health he was granted a leave of absence during the summer of 1915. It seems a student Hinderbrandt was enganged to fill the vacancy, untill the school was closed by the departement of education in the fall of 1915.St. Mathew school was re-opened on August 22nd. August 28, 1921 and taught until December 18, 1922
when the school again was closed by the Department of
Education - reason given: "Inefficient for citizenship".
On February 15, 1923 the congregation decided to immigrate
to Mexico. The Department of Education,
hearing of this, reversed its decision and allowed the
school to be opened. (Up until this time school was held
in the building located two miles southeast of Stony
Plain.) On April 10, 1923 the school again was re-opened.
In the fall of 1924 a second school was built in the town
of Stony Plain.

In the year 1905, Pastor Herman Reinitz was called to
St. Matthew Lutheran, Stony Plain. He was instrumental
in opening a regular Christian Day School, which he also
taught, besides his pastoral duties. The school's
enrolment soon increased to 60 students.

It seems a student Hildebrandt was engaged to fill the

Department of Education in the fall of 1915. St. Matthew

Although the building itself is gone, the
Walther League of St. Matthew Lutheran Church erected
a cairn in 1939 to mark the spot. In 1899 a new church
was built nearby. It was larger, and allowed more room
in the old church for use as a school. It too had disappeared,
but in 1967 the church membership built a
miniature chapel, a copy of the larger church complete
with steeple. It can be seen standing on the original site,
near the cemetery south and east of town. It is outfitted
with miniature furnishings, a tiny cornerstone, and a
bronze plaque.
A new parsonage was built in 1903.
1947 saw the building of a new parsonage in town. This
home is also still standing beside the church. It is a large
two-storey house, intended as a home for the pastor and
the many guests that stay with his family.
The most familiar building is probably the big stone
church on the corner of 51 Street and 52 Avenue. This
was built in 1949, using local field stone. For a long time
the two country schools sat on a large lot behind the
church.
